Plot

In the grandeur of Park Avenue, millionaire lumber magnate Mike Curran is plagued by concern over his son Grant's perceived lack of manliness. Unbeknownst to him, Grant, a college graduate, has been moonlighting as a professional wrestler, "The Masked Marvel." A psychiatrist's counsel prompts Mike to send Grant to his Oregon-based Timberlake Camp to learn the rugged ways of the lumber business firsthand, under the guise of a friend's son. Eager to prove himself, Grant adopts the moniker Bill Grant and plunges into the world of lumberjacking, overcoming the initial ridicule as a Park Avenue softie. His dedication quickly earns him respect and the affections of the tenacious Peggy O'Shea, the daughter of a rival lumber magnate whose business is on the brink of collapse due to a series of lumber car derailments. Behind these incidents lurks the devious Paul Sangar, Peggy's father's field boss, and Ben Morton, the Timberlake field manager. Initially, their scheme was to financially cripple O'Shea's business by purchasing his bank notes and sabotaging his shipments. However, Sangar's growing love for Peggy sways him towards a more amiable takeover via marriage. In the midst of this, Grant continues to prove his mettle, effortlessly fending off hired thugs at a dance hall and tackling dangerous logging assignments. But when Sangar produces a magazine identifying Grant as a Curran, suspicion falls on him as the saboteur. Despite the accusation, Grant uses his newfound knowledge of the lumber industry to expose Morton's embezzlement, buying the O'Shea bank notes, and landing Morton behind bars. With his father en route from New York, a furious Peggy agrees to a hasty marriage with Sangar. A swift act of cunning by Grant stalls the wedding, leading to both Sangar and Grant landing in jail. As Mike arrives, fearing his son has gone mad, Grant presents Morton's auditor's signed confession, implicating Morton in the banknote conspiracy. Vindicated and now respected by his father, Grant proposes to Peggy. Amidst the towering Oregon pines, the tale culminates with a father's newfound respect for his son's manliness and a blossoming romance, underlining that courage and honor aren't bound to a wrestling ring or a logging camp, but lie within the heart.
