Plot

In the heart of Chicago, 38-year-old police officer Danny Muldoon finds himself entangled in the apron strings of his strong-willed Irish mother. Forever under her watchful eye, Danny's existence is wrapped up in his mother's world, until he crosses paths with Theresa, a captivating Italian mortician with an independent spirit. As the sparks fly between Danny and Theresa, they embark on a clandestine romance, tiptoeing around his mother's disapproval. The emerald green eyes of the Irish matriarch see Theresa as an intruder, threatening the bond between a mother and her only son. Despite the complications, Danny is drawn to Theresa's fiery spirit and the promise of a life beyond his mother's shadow. When Danny's brother orchestrates a job opportunity in Florida, with the intention of moving their mother to the sunshine state, Danny is torn. The decision is further complicated as Theresa, rooted firmly in her hometown, has no desire to chase the Floridian sun. Danny finds himself standing at life's crossroad, forced to choose between the comfort of his mother's love and the exhilarating promise of a life with Theresa. Only the Lonely paints a poignant picture of love, loyalty, and the struggle of breaking free from familial bonds. It's a tale of a man caught between the woman who gave him life and the woman who makes him feel truly alive. The question remains - can Danny untangle himself from his mother's leash long enough to fully embrace a future with Theresa? Or will he remain forever the dutiful son, living only in the lonely shadow of his mother's love?
