Plot
In the captivating film "Nutty News" (1942), the unseen Elmer Fudd takes us on an enthralling journey through a newsreel. His voice guides us as a hunter engages in an amusing dialogue with a moose, each using the other's call. Meanwhile, a barber cleverly utilizes an invention to surprise a young boy.
In an unexpected twist, a hat-loving gentleman uses a rear-view mirror to protect his headwear during a meal, though he soon realizes he should have safeguarded more than just his hat. The scene then shifts to a laboratory where rabbits demonstrate their exceptional multiplication skills. Amidst the chaos, fireflies conduct a lightless spectacle, creating an eerie blackout.
Our journey continues with an artist meticulously using his thumb to ensure the perfect proportions while a model poses. Just nearby, a young chick echoes the adventure of ducklings taking their daring first dip in the water. The southern charm shines through in the traffic signs humorously reading "No U-All Turns."
A baseball pitcher attempts to throw a dollar across the Potomac, only to have his Scotty dog impart the wisdom that a dollar's reach isn't as far as one would hope. The film then introduces us to a fox hunt, but with a twist: the dogs run in circles as the fox beguiles the lead dog into a whirlwind romance.
As the film nears its end, we find ourselves in the midst of a protest against a new department store even before its construction begins. Lastly, we are shown a series of battleships enduring a downpour, save for the U.S.S. California, basking in glorious sunshine. "Nutty News" (1942) is a film that skillfully intertwines humor, surprise, and a touch of the absurd, providing a unique cinematic experience.
