Plot

Cloistered deep in the untouched wilderness of North Carolina, Nell, a young woman of enchanting mystery, has lived a life of solitude with only her mother and twin sister, Mae, as her companions. Their secluded cottage in the heart of the forest remains a world untouched by modernity. In this isolated existence, Nell and Mae develop a distinct, almost musical language of their own - a cryptic "twin speak", a linguistic marvel born out of their secluded upbringing. However, when death steals Nell's mother away, the delicate fabric of her world begins to unravel, revealing her existence to the outside world. Dr. Jerome Lovell, a compassionate country doctor, stumbles upon Nell's hidden life. Captivated by her unique language and untamed spirit, he is driven to help her adjust without disturbing the sanctity of her secluded world. Simultaneously, Paula Olsen, an ambitious psychology student, and her unsympathetic boss, Alexander Paley, see in Nell a fascinating subject for their scientific study. They vie to extract her from her natural habitat and thrust her into the sterile confines of their laboratory. As the court grants them a brief window of three months to observe Nell within the forest, a battle unfolds between preserving Nell's unique world and subjecting her to the scrutiny of science. "Nell" is a captivating tale of a woman at the crossroads of her own wilderness and the encroaching world. The question lingers - how long can her world remain untouched by the outside? This riveting narrative explores the tension between the sanctity of individual uniqueness and the relentless curiosity of the wider world.
