My Life as a Zucchini (2016)

9-year old Icare prefers to be called by his nickname Courgette, but he has a lot more issues than what people call him. His dad has long been absent, and his abusive mother is gone, but he finds an unlikely friend in the form of police officer Raymond. Raymond helps him become integrated in his new foster home, and he continues to be there as Courgette struggles to build new relationships in a sometimes terrifying new environment. But the more he opens up to the people around him, the more he recognizes how much there is for him outside the world he knew.
