Men of Honor (2000)

Carl Brashear dreamed of becoming a master diver, but it was a dream that would seem impossible as a black man in 1948. But Carl isn't discouraged, and he enlists in the recently desegregated Navy. That doesn't mean that racism isn't present. He faces abuse from his fellow recruits and disdain from his military superiors. Even Carl's trainer wants to see him fail and actively works against his success. Carl will have only himself to rely on as he works his way through the training to become a master diver. But will he ever earn the respect of the very man who trained him?
