Mausam (2011)

In the quaint village of Mallukot, circa 1992, the smitten Harinder finds his heart ensnared by the Kashmiri beauty, Aayat. Despite amorous advances from the village belle, Lajjo, Harinder's heart beats only for Aayat, a newcomer who has taken refuge with her Bua, Fatimah. However, their blossoming love story is abruptly severed when religious violence shatters their world after the Babri Masjid attack. Amidst the chaos, Aayat flees to the safe haven of Bombay with her kin, leaving a heartbroken Harinder behind. The threads of destiny intertwine once more seven years later in the scenic landscapes of Scotland. Harinder, now a valiant Indian Air Force Pilot, and Aayat, a graceful ballet dancer, rekindle their dormant love. The promise of a shared future glimmers on the horizon as they set a wedding date. But fate plays its cruel hand yet again, as the outbreak of the Kargil War calls Harinder back to duty, leaving Aayat in agonizing silence. Discharged from duty, he clings on to the hope of reuniting with his love, only to discover that she has relocated to the United States. As the world reels from the aftermath of 9-11, Harinder follows a clue that leads him to Switzerland, on a desperate quest to find Aayat.
