Love by Chance (2016)

Claire Michaels, an early-thirty-something co-owner of a flourishing bakery, is a firm believer in the guiding hand of fate, attributing her successful partnership with Marco and her parents' enchanting love story to destiny's intervention. Amidst the hustle of taking her bakery to new heights, she finds no time to seek love, instead, hoping fate will deliver her a romance as serendipitous as her parents'. Claire's mother, Helen, an almost-retiring real estate pro, envisions a different approach - matchmaking. Helen, having spent years evaluating the longevity of her clients' relationships, decides to utilize her expertise on her daughter. Secretly, she sets up an online dating profile for Claire, hoping to catch the perfect match. However, her well-intentioned interference tends to backfire, with potential suitors fleeing once they discover Helen's hidden orchestration. During one such failed matchmaking attempt at a posh bar, Helen stumbles upon Eric Carlton, a charming pediatrician on his second date with Dana Becker, a fellow physician. Helen's instincts tell her that although Eric and Dana are ill-suited, he might be the perfect fit for Claire. She manages to persuade Eric to encounter Claire "by chance" at an art gallery function catered by Claire and Marco. Despite his initial reservations, Eric agrees, having overheard Helen's conversation and her matchmaking intentions. In the art gallery, fate, or so it seems, strikes, and Claire and Eric's paths cross. Their relationship blossoms into romance; however, Eric is aware that the truth must be revealed for a future to be possible. As the secret lingers, the stakes rise, threatening not only Claire's relationship with Eric but also her bond with Helen. If the truth surfaces through any other means than directly from her mother or Eric, the consequences could be dire, potentially shattering relationships and Claire's belief in fate.
