Plot

In the heart of Britain, Percy Brand (Sir Michael Redgrave) is a seasoned con artist with a talent for weaving tales as intricate as his schemes. Percy's life is a series of prison terms punctuated by brief stints of freedom, yet he skillfully conceals his criminal past under a cloak of honorable, plausible explanations for his recurrent absences. His most compelling deception, however, is reserved for his son, Colin (Jeremy Burnham), who remains blissfully unaware of his father's unscrupulous lifestyle. As Colin ascends to the position of an assistant to the esteemed Judge Sir Edward Crichton (Robert Morley), his proximity to British law presents an unprecedented predicament. Percy finds himself in the ironic situation of being tried by the very judge his son assists, threatening to unravel the web of deceit he has so carefully spun. Faced with the imminent threat of his double life being exposed, Percy and his band of misfits must concoct an audacious plan. Their mission: to sabotage the impending court meeting and keep Percy's secret safe from his unsuspecting progeny. Law and Disorder (1958) unravels a thrilling tale of deception, familial bonds, and the desperate lengths one man will go to protect his family from the harsh truth.
