In a world as diverse as it is mystifying, the introspective teenage sharpshooter, Kino, and her loquacious two-wheeled companion, Hermes, embark on an endless journey of discovery. Propelled by a selfless act of a kindly wanderer, Kino and Hermes flit from one city-state to another, each a universe unto itself with its own unique culture, social hierarchy, and philosophy. Their quest is not to reach a destination but to gain wisdom about life, the world, and their own identities.
With the resolve to never linger in a place for more than three days, Kino and Hermes traverse terrains both breathtakingly beautiful and unsettlingly eerie, immersing themselves in the myriad oddities and spectacles they encounter. In every city-state, they delve into its history and way of life, an experience that often reveals the darkest facets of humanity but also its occasional triumphs.
