Kin (2018)

Eli Solinski stumbles across a device that looks like a weapon while digging for scrap. It appears valuable enough that it could change the lives of his poor family forever, but he doesn't realize the full scale of what it can do until he uses it to protect his step-brother from an attack. Soon, they find themselves on the run from the gang who's members they killed — but those aren't the only threats they'll need to deal with. The aliens who left the weapon behind want it back, but so do a group of federal agents who recognize its power.
