In the lap of opulence, Thakur Suraj Singh's world spins with his wife, his three sons - business-oriented Kishore, his wife Laxmi and their offspring Pappu and Laali; the renowned poet, Vijaykamal, and the aspiring lawyer, Mohan. In this tapestry of relationships, their unmarried sister Radha weaves. Love blooms in Vijaykamal's heart for the charming Sapna, but fate deals a cruel hand, forcing her into a loveless marriage with Bihari, leading to her tragic suicide on her wedding night. Witnessing her death sends Vijaykamal spiraling into the abyss of insanity. As the family's world crumbles, they sequester Vijaykamal on their home's rooftop, away from prying eyes. Suraj, desperate yet unable to commit his son to an asylum, brings home a young courtesan, Chand, with the hope that her presence might drag Vijaykamal back from his mental precipice. Chand's efforts yield fruit, but at a terrible price. She becomes the victim of Vijaykamal's sexual assault and endures the family's callous treatment. Amidst this chaos, Mohan and Bihari are drawn to Chand's allure, further complicating her life.
