Kaasav: Turtle (2016)

In the coastal haven of Devgad in Konkan village, a tapestry of disparate lives intertwine in a stirring narrative of rediscovery and healing. At the heart of it all is Janaki, a resolute divorcee grappling with her own internal tempests while seeking solace in a sea-turtle conservation project led by the earnest Dattabhau. One fateful encounter thrusts her into the life of Manav, a young man teetering on the edge of despair. Hospitalized after a suicide attempt, Manav escapes and collapses on the road, only to be discovered by Janaki and her steadfast driver-assistant, Yadu. Recognizing the shadowed echoes of his pain, Janaki takes him under her wing, offering not only refuge but a sanctuary of non-judgment, warmth, and understanding. Drawn into this unexpected circle of support are Bablya, Dattabhau's diligent helper, and Parshu, a street-wise kid, both unrelated yet connected through their shared mission. Each one, wrestling with their own demons, becomes a vital part of Manav's lifeline, forming a unique, supportive network that transcends traditional familial bonds. As Janaki continues her own battle with panic attacks, she becomes the beacon of hope that Manav desperately needs, guiding him back from the precipice of despair. In the process, this unlikely tribe discovers that salvation often comes from the most unexpected quarters, and sometimes, it takes the resilience of a sea-turtle to remind us of the strength that lies within.
