Haunted by his past in the relentless streets of L.A. and a failed marriage, John Berlin, a battle-weary cop, seeks refuge in the tranquility of rural California, joining the Eureka police force. His arrival, however, stirs up animosity among his new colleagues, especially John "J.K." Taylor, who sees Berlin as a threat to his own ambitions.
