Into the West (1992)

In the heart of an Irish slum, a mythical tale unfolds when a grand Traveller patriarch and his two young grandsons encounter a colossal white stallion of unfathomable mystery. The younger grandson, uniquely capable of taming the enigmatic beast, assumes ownership alongside his older brother. Their world, already teetering on the edges of reality, is further disrupted as they make room for the horse in their father's tower-block apartment, a space ill-suited for such a majestic creature. Their father, a man wrestling with the demons of alcoholism, can only watch as the authorities confiscate the horse. Through a series of shady transactions, the stallion finds himself under the control of a sly, affluent horse breeder. The brothers, however, are not ready to surrender their newfound companion. They embark on a daring quest to reclaim what is rightfully theirs, igniting an unforgettable adventure through Dublin that transcends their wildest dreams. However, the stallion, as though guided by an unseen force, seems to chart its own course. As they journey deeper into the unknown, the boys soon realize that they are not simply fleeing on the horse, but they are journeying into a world of wonder, discovery, and transformation - a journey that takes them into the wild and untamed territories of the heart, thus truly venturing, Into the West.
