Plot

Gilbert Gonzalez (Adrian Martinez), a 39-year-old virgin grappling with obesity, experiences the world from the confines of his Manhattan brownstone, under the watchful eyes of his cynically overprotective mother. Trapped in a cocoon of fear, Gilbert craves the warmth of human connection, a longing he secretly satisfies by photographing women unnoticed. His world is coloured with enigmatic hues when Jana (Dascha Polanco), a tenant in his building, becomes the muse of his fantasies. A paradox in herself, Jana is breathtakingly beautiful yet shackled by insecurities, unable to confront her ex-boyfriend Tony (Raul Castillo), a PTSD-stricken Iraq war veteran. Gilbert yearns to be her hero, yet doubts his chances, especially if his clandestine collection of photographs comes to light. As these three souls collide, they navigate a complex maze of emotions in their quest for connection, a pursuit made more challenging in our increasingly impersonal digital reality.
