In the midst of life's complexities and varying degrees of success, four college friends - Jonathan, Richard, Rob, and Tim - grapple with their individual hardships. Jonathan, a divorced father and physician, caters to his wealthy clientele's recreational drug desires for a hefty price. Richard, once a celebrated novelist, now finds solace teaching high school English, his party-boy days a distant memory. Ron, a seemingly content family man, faces imminent indictment for stealing from his clients as a desperate attempt to support his family. Lastly, Tim, burdened by the tragic loss of his sister and boyfriend in a car accident where he was the driver, navigates life with lingering guilt. Despite their geographical separation, they make it a point to reunite yearly, opting for a week-long retreat from reality. This year, they converge at a beachfront rental in Big Sur to commemorate Tim's birthday. As they delve into a nostalgic whirlwind of drugs, sex, and wild partying reminiscent of their youthful college days, an unexpected incident forces them to reassess their lives.
