In the dazzling yet deceptive world of a high-end London cabaret, Beaty (Dame Helen Mirren), a lady of the night, crosses paths with Emory (John Shea), a humble technician. Their relationship quickly escalates into an affair, but it's a love entwined in a labyrinth of their tumultuous pasts and present obstacles. Beaty's past is tainted by a violent former lover, Alex (Paul Angelis), who also happens to be the father of her young son and potentially her ruthless pimp. Freshly emerged from the prison's cold walls, Alex re-enters Beaty's life as a dangerous, unpredictable element that could shatter her fragile happiness. Emory, too, bears a heavy past. His wife's enigmatic demise haunts him, and his association with the dubious Max (Murray Salem) brings its own set of complications. Max appears with a risky proposition, promising a fortune but potentially jeopardizing everything Emory holds dear. As the shadow of Alex looms over them, Beaty and Emory strive to untangle their lives from the web of deceit, crime, and desperation.
