Plot

In the romantic whirlwind that is 'Housesitter', Newton Davis, a passionate architect, pours his heart into creating a dream house as a proposal gift for his longtime love, Becky. However, his grand romantic gesture is met with rejection, leaving him heartbroken and the dream house wrapped in a ribbon of unfulfilled promise. Returning to the city, Newton drowns his sorrows and crosses paths with Gwen, a charismatic waitress with a whimsical relationship with the truth. Swept up in a fleeting night of passion, Newton unwittingly paints a vivid picture of his deserted dream house for Gwen. Intrigued and sensing an opportunity, Gwen tracks down the house and, in a bold move, moves in, spinning an elaborate web of lies about a marriage, courtship, and shared history with Newton. The unsuspecting residents of Newton's hometown, including his parents, are quickly charmed by Gwen and her fabricated romance. By the time Newton discovers Gwen's audacious act, the entire town is enraptured by their 'marriage'. Surprisingly, Becky, his former love, sees him in a new light, thanks to Gwen's imaginative storytelling. Seizing the unexpected benefit, Newton convinces Gwen to maintain the charade, trading free rent for her help in winning Becky over until they can 'divorce'. However, their plan spirals out of control as the close-knit town rallies around their 'marriage', desperately trying to help them reconcile. In this heartwarmingly chaotic tale, Gwen and Newton navigate their tangled web of lies, discovering that the path to true love is often paved with unexpected detours.
