House Tricks? (1946)

In the heart of construction chaos, Olive finds herself in the middle of a housing project when she unexpectedly encounters the boys. Intrigued by their boisterous confidence, she entrusts them with the task of building her dream home, dividing the blueprints and thus, the work, equally between them. Meanwhile, the concept of "teamwork" seems to be a lost cause for the unpredictable duo. Bluto, on his end, performs his tasks haphazardly, barely holding onto the reins of responsibility. He's equally invested in creating hurdles for Popeye, connivingly leading him into undertaking more work than intended. Concurrently, Popeye, despite his sincere efforts, continually finds himself in a whirl of blunders, many of which curiously involve Olive and a series of misshapen pipes. As the story races towards climax, Popeye turns to his trusty spinach for a boost, swiftly wrapping up his part of construction. However, their triumph is short-lived as the newly built house succumbs to its poor foundation, crashing down in the midst of their jubilant kiss. The tale serves up a humorous blend of rivalry, mishaps, and unexpected turns, leaving the audience chuckling at the absurdity of it all.
