High Road (2012)

In the comedic whirlwind of High Road, Glenn "Fitz" Fitzgerald (James Pumphery), a torn young man, finds his allegiances challenged between his band, his sweetheart Monica (Abby Elliott), and the clandestine profession of peddling weed. Following a disheartening dissolution of his band, Fitz dives deeper into his illicit activity, transforming his garage into a secret cannabis hub and unexpectedly forming a bond with an audacious 16-year-old, Jimmy (Dylan O'Brien). As his former bandmates (Zach Woods, Matt L. Jones, Lizzy Caplan) bask in newfound fame, and a drug transaction dangerously veers off course, Fitz and Jimmy are thrust onto an unexpected journey. Amidst a backdrop of menacing firearms, fractured bones, sharp-tongued taxi drivers, brusque sex-workers, and a doctor with dubious intentions (Horatio Sanz), Fitz is forced to steer them both towards safety. All the while, unbeknownst to him, Monica is nurturing an unforeseen revelation back home, waiting to turn Fitz's world upside down. The movie High Road invites viewers on a hilariously chaotic, improvised adventure where the only predictable element is the sheer unpredictability.
