Plot

Poppy Cross is a thirty-year-old beacon of vivacious energy, lighting up the streets of Camden, London with her infectious and exuberant personality. As an elementary school teacher, she infuses her enthusiasm into her profession, making her a favourite amongst her students and a breath of fresh air to people around her. She's the embodiment of the phrase "happy-go-lucky," balancing her playful pranks with earnest conversations with strangers, making them feel at ease while leaving a trail of smiles in her wake. However, beneath her lively exterior lies a resilience that enables Poppy to navigate through life's serious turns. She's a master at diffusing tense situations, whether it's managing her students' aggressive behaviour with the aid of a social worker or confronting the harsh realities of life when she encounters a tramp in the night. Her social sphere includes her long-time flatmate and fellow teacher, Zoe, and her two sisters - one she's incredibly close to, the other not so much. But it's her peculiar relationship with Scott, her tightly-wound driving instructor, that truly tests the boundaries of her sunny disposition. Scott, a perpetual outsider, is initially put off by Poppy's seemingly flippant attitude towards the severity of driving. This dynamic unveils unexpected consequences, forcing Poppy to re-evaluate the impact of her buoyant personality. As we journey through this slice-of-life tale, we witness Poppy's flamenco dance classes with a passionate Spaniard, her hilarious driving lessons with Scott, and her creative teaching methods. Along the way, we're compelled to question whether her open, unguarded attitude might invite misunderstanding or even danger. But above all, we're left pondering the elusive root of happiness. Is it as simple as adopting Poppy's happy-go-lucky outlook on life, or does it run deeper? This vibrant narrative invites you to dive in and discover for yourself.
