Halima's Path (2012)

The narrative then spirals back two decades to the era of Yugoslavia, unfurling the touching story of Halima and her husband's journey into adoption after countless unsuccessful attempts to conceive. Simultaneously, the plot traces Halima's contemporary journey to locate her son's biological mother, the solitary key to identifying her son's remains. The path leads her to her own niece, her brother's daughter. This young woman once dared to love a Serbian boy from a neighboring village, a relationship vehemently opposed by Halima's brother due to their differing religions. The resulting child from this forbidden romance was secretly handed over to Halima by her niece, all while deceiving her Serbian boyfriend into believing their baby had died. Now residing in the Serbian part of Bosnia with her own family, the niece has severed ties with her past, refusing to acknowledge her previous life. As Halima's search reaches a chilling climax, she uncovers a horrifying truth, a monstrous revelation from her worst nightmares, which hinders her quest. Yet, this discovery triggers a domino effect, setting in motion a tragic sequence of events that echo the sorrows of the past into the present, once again shaking the fragile fabric of their lives.
