In the heart of the 1930s, the tale of "Hair-Trigger" Casey unfolds. Captain Frank Casey is a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army Cavalry, christened "Hair-Trigger" during his WWI service due to his lightning-fast skill with a Colt 45 and his infamous fiery temper. When a message from the Border Patrol arrives, carried by his orderly, Snowflake, Casey learns of turmoil brewing at his sprawling ten-thousand-acre ranch situated along the border. The ominous whispers of illegal Chinese immigration echo, and Casey, the ever-dutiful soldier, takes a ten-day leave to untangle the mystery. His brother, Dave, and his trusted former wartime aide, Karney, manage the ranch in his absence. The Border Patrol informs Casey of an imminent smuggling attempt, implicating a concho-less Mexican in the scheme. In a dramatic sequence, Casey intercepts the Mexican, who has abducted Jane Elkins in her stylish convertible roadster. In a shocking twist, the Mexican turns out to be none other than Karney, leading to a powerful confrontation between Casey and his former comrade. Karney's escape is short-lived, as a vengeful hatchet-wielding Chinese man, wronged by Karney, lies in wait.
