Hair High (2004)

"Hair High" is a darkly humorous take on high school dynamics, melding gothic elements with a narrative reminiscent of "Carrie". The story unfolds in a realm ruled by Cherri and Rod, the high-school royalty who wield their power with an iron fist. But their reign is disrupted by Spud, the fresh-faced newcomer who unwittingly offends them and is consequently consigned to servitude under Cherri. Their relationship, initially marked by mutual disdain, gradually evolves into an unexpected romance. With the prom night as their secret rendezvous, Cherri and Spud's love story takes a tragic turn when a scorned Rod deliberately plunges their car into the unforgiving depths of a lake. Their last breath is shared in a final kiss as their car descends into the watery abyss. Rod, however, escapes the grasp of justice, deftly manipulating the ensuing investigations to his advantage. A year later, on the night of the next prom, the extraordinary occurs. Their submerged car stirs to life, carrying the decomposed bodies of Cherri and Spud from the lake's bottom to the prom night that they were denied. The crowd is left agape as the skeletal couple, trailing an unsettling mix of aquatic creatures from their lifeless forms, stride across the dance floor. Their chilling presence escalates into terror when they ascend the stage, where Spud crowns Cherri, triggering an onslaught of creatures that ravage the true villain, Rod. This unexpected twist adds a fittingly eerie conclusion to this macabre high-school tale.
