Guddu Rangeela (2015)

In the arid expanses of North India's rural heart, we find the intriguing tale of Guddu and Rangeela, two disparate cousins eking out a living in a world plagued by crime. By day, they serenade as orchestra singers, while the cloak of night transforms them into informants, their livelihood hinging on the meagre earnings from local gangsters for tips about the town's wealthiest families. This precarious balance allows them to survive without muddying their hands too deep in the criminal underworld. Despite sharing blood, Guddu and Rangeela are strikingly dissimilar. The volatile, yet comical relationship between the two comes into focus through a series of perilous yet humorous situations, and their spur-of-the-moment tactics to avoid imminent danger. Their lives are marred by a tragic past involving the menacing Billo, a gang lord turned politician, and the antagonist of our tale. Covertly embroiled in a decade-long legal tussle against Billo, they rely on the integrity of Gupta, a steadfast lawyer battling on their behalf. Guddu, the impetuous and unconventional cousin, dreams of leaving their precarious existence behind by orchestrating a heist, while the more principled and mature Rangeela rejects the idea of dabbling in the city's underworld. Guddu's weakness for women often lands him in fleeting romantic escapades. In stark contrast, Rangeela remains haunted by the loss of his one true love, Babli. Rangeela's primary objective is to dethrone his adversary Billo, thereby rectifying the suffering and cruelty inflicted years ago. Fortune bestows upon him an opportunity to do just that, plunging him headlong into a confrontation with the ruthless Billo. The narrative that ensues is a whirlwind of redemption and retribution, weaving together ambition, strategy, a kidnapping, and a seesaw battle of triumphs and setbacks, culminating in a gripping climax.
