In the icy heart of winter, siblings Jacob and Marie are reluctantly abandoned in a secluded forest by their jobless father. A desperate note hidden in Jacob's coat from their mother, a beacon of hope, urges them to seek refuge with their uncle in the sun-soaked lands of Spain. However, they reach their destination only to be met with the harsh reality that their uncle has passed away.
