In the asphalt wilderness of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, four teenage girls, each bristling with unique personalities, navigate the rocky path from adolescence to adulthood. Deidre, grappling with her burgeoning sexuality and a complicated network of romantic relationships, seeks solace in her friendships. Madge, trapped in the confines of her weight and overbearing parents, yearns for liberation. Annie, a wild spirit with a penchant for alcohol and drugs, relentlessly flees from her abusive policeman father. Amid these chaotic lives, stands Jeanie, the glue holding them together, battling her own demons of a fractured family.
Jeanie, the anchor in this stormy sea, is ready to shelve childish whims and step into maturity. But her biggest challenge lies in saving Annie, the most volatile among them. They find refuge from their tumultuous lives in a whirlwind of parties, the pulsating soundtrack of their youth providing the backdrop to endless nights of drinking, drugs, and sex.
Yet, the specter of Annie's instability looms large, her unpredictable flare-ups keeping everyone on tenterhooks. More than once, Jeanie steps into the line of fire to keep Annie away from harm's path. As their lives intertwine in this urban jungle, Foxes (1980) paints a gripping portrait of adolescence, illuminated by the harsh neon lights of temptation and the tender glow of friendship.
