When the Kwimper family's trusty vehicle grinds to a halt, out of gas on an untouched Florida highway, they find themselves inadvertently crossing paths with a pompous state supervisor. The stalwart Pop Kwimper, unwilling to be pushed around, chooses to take up the mantle of a homesteader. Along with his son Toby and their motley crew of "adopted" children - the radiant Holly, mysterious Ariadne, and the inseparable twins - they carve out a quaint community nestled along the roadside. Thriving on the bounty of the sea and the simplicity of life, they establish their own idyllic haven. However, tranquility is short-lived when the menacing mob descends, setting up an illicit gambling hub, threatening their peaceful existence. Adding to their challenges, the state supervisor, armed with a sultry social worker, sets his sights on dismantling their unconventional family, targeting Ariadne and the twins. Through trials and tribulations, the Kwimper family's resilience is put to the ultimate test in this heartwarming tale of standing your ground and defending what's dear.
