Plot

In the wake of the turbulent Gujarat riots, the lives of several individuals are irrevocably tainted by guilt, fear, and suspicion. Arati grapples with remorse for her indifference towards a wounded Muslim woman seeking refuge, a decision influenced by her husband, Sanjay, who reveled in the chaos by looting stores, while his brother, Devan, descended into abhorrent acts against Muslim women. Amidst this, a young boy, Mohsin, ventures out from the relative safety of an army camp in a desperate search for his father. As the discord seeps into the world of music, celebrated maestro Jahangir Khan is confronted by a wave of isolation. Sameer Shaikh and his Hindu wife, Anuradha, feeling the sting of communal tension, contemplate relocating to Delhi for a chance at peace. Accusations and distrust flare as Muneera suspects her Hindu friend, Jyoti, of setting her house ablaze. Meanwhile, the oppressive bias of the police towards Muslims continues unabated, pushing five Muslim men towards the brink, armed with a gun and a thirst for retribution. Firaaq is a potent exploration of the human condition in times of civil unrest, presenting a tapestry of interconnected stories that reveal the profound impacts of communal violence.
