Fear in the Night (1972)

In the bustling heart of London, Peggy Heller, a vibrant 22-year-old, finds solace from her recent nervous breakdown in the arms of Robert Heller, a dedicated school teacher. The newlyweds plan to escape the frenetic city, trading it for the serene countryside where Robert works in a private boys' school, managed by the enigmatic headmaster, Michael Carmichael, and his wife, Molly. On the eve of their rural retreat, Peggy lodges at Mrs. Beamish's boarding house, her dreams of tranquility shattered by a terrifying encounter with a man bearing a mechanical arm. Despite her pleas, Peggy's fears are dismissed as mere hallucinations, a lingering effect of her nervous breakdown. Determined to move forward, Peggy and Robert commence their peaceful life in a quaint cottage within the school ground. However, peace eludes Peggy as she suffers another attack from the same mechanical-armed menace, an event that only deepens the chasm of disbelief between her and Robert.
