Plot
In the heart of 1972, Miyuki, a passionate woman, bids farewell to her past love, Kazuo, informing him of her new life in Okinawa with their son. Intrigued and driven by a filmmaker's curiosity, Kazuo chooses to chronicle her journey. His visits to Okinawa are like episodic snapshots: capturing Miyuki's evolving relationship with her flatmate Sugako, whom she finds alluring, and her life at a local bar where she's romantically entangled with Paul, an African-American soldier.
In a whirlwind of events, Kazuo introduces his new partner, Sachiko, to Miyuki's world. The viewer is privy to the interactions of Miyuki with her son, her fellow bar girls, and Sachiko - each encounter a new layer to her multifaceted life.
When Miyuki, now expecting a mixed-race child, returns to Tokyo, she courageously embarks on a solo journey of childbirth, with Kazuo and Sachiko documenting this intimate moment. Rejecting traditional norms, she finds solace in a women's commune, rejoices in the joys of motherhood, and contemplates the endless possibilities life offers. Through it all, one can't help but question: does the man behind the camera, Kazuo, have a perspective?
