Plot

In the gripping adaptation of Emma Healey's 2014 bestseller, Elizabeth Is Missing, we are introduced to the character of Maud, masterfully portrayed by Glenda Jackson. Maud, a woman grappling with the relentless tide of dementia, embarks on a desperate quest to unearth the truth about her best friend Elizabeth's unsettling disappearance. As Elizabeth vanishes without a trace, Maud becomes consumed by a chilling certainty that a dreadful fate has befallen her friend. Despite her rapidly advancing dementia, Maud doggedly pursues the truth, her resolve undimmed by the blurring lines between now and then, reality and illusion. As she descends deeper into the fog of forgetfulness, a haunting question begins to surface - could Elizabeth's disappearance be intertwined with the unsolved mystery of her own sister, Sukey, who vanished without a trace decades earlier? In the face of time's cruel march and the increasing haze of her memories, Maud's determination to unravel the twin mysteries of Elizabeth and Sukey becomes a poignant testament to the power of friendship, the sting of loss, and the indomitable spirit of a woman refusing to be silenced by her own failing mind.
