Plot

Nestled in the heart of a devout Mormon community in Utah, fifteen-year-old Rachel Angela McKnight's world is flipped upside down when she realizes she's expecting a child. A fervent believer in the miraculous, Rachel attributes her pregnancy to an Immaculate Conception, sparked by the enchanting sounds from a mysterious blue cassette tape she discovered in a cassette recorder. An unthinkable transgression in the eyes of her staunchly religious family, her condition incites a whirlwind of consequences. Her father, Paul, the community's spiritual guide, points an accusing finger at her brother, Mr. Will, banishing him from their home. Meanwhile, he hastily arranges a marriage within the community for Rachel, hoping to preserve their family's honor. Yet, Rachel's spirit remains undeterred. She's determined to find the father of her baby, whom she believes is the unseen musician from the tape. In a daring act of rebellion, she swipes Paul's pickup truck and embarks on a journey to Las Vegas. Unbeknownst to her, Mr. Will, who was tucked away sleeping in the trunk, becomes an unplanned companion in her quest. Their path intersects with Clyde, a charismatic skater, and his musician friend, Johnny. The unlikely quartet embarks on a shared journey in Clyde's van to their unconventional residence. As Rachel delves deeper into this unfamiliar world, she finds herself drawn to Clyde, and a tender romance blossoms between them. Clyde offers to marry her, providing a tempting escape from her troubled past. However, Rachel's quest is far from over, as her heart yearns to find the elusive musician from the tape, the melody that started her extraordinary journey. Amid the neon lights of Las Vegas, Rachel's search for the child's origins becomes a transformative journey of self-discovery and revelation.
