In the pulsating heart of New York, Tina, a successful conceptual artist, lives liberally off her own triumphs, while her husband, Wayne, comfortably basks in her reflected glory. As the city buzzes around them, they welcome to their eclectic Brooklyn loft, Karen, Tina's art school rival. Karen, eight-months pregnant, embodies the archetype of the perfect housewife, while her power-driven, new-money husband, Don, is an ambitious player in the game of life. In a twist of convention, Tina unveils her avant-garde work-in-progress, a bold exploration of motherhood's alternatives. As she candidly confesses to Karen about her decision to have a child through a surrogate, citing her aversion to the traditional, all-consuming nature of motherhood, the loft reverberates with tension. Karen, revelling in her pregnancy-induced celebrity status, pitifully retorts, whilst defending the sanctity of natural motherhood. The plot takes an intriguing turn with the arrival of Kiki, Tina's sensuous, defiant surrogate. The air thickens with unveiled truths and secrets, as the grip of the long-standing patriarchy quivers. A fiery debate ensues, sparking off a battle of ideas and opinions about surrogate motherhood. This assembly of old rivals and new allies, wrapped in a nest of truth and deception, presents a startling critique of traditional norms and the patriarchal framework they exist within. This is a tale of identities, choices, and the intricate complexity of motherhood in a modern world.
