Plot
In the heart of a bustling city, Edi and his best friend Jureczek lead a humble existence, scouring the streets for scrap metal to make ends meet. Their quiet lives are disrupted when two gangster brothers, rulers of their neighborhood, brutally enforce their illicit alcohol business, resulting in the death of a fellow scrap-picker. Amid the chaos, the brothers propose an unusual task for Edi – tutoring their feisty, 17-year-old sister, Princess.
Edi is chosen for his love of literature, a passion nurtured through countless hours spent engrossed in books salvaged from the rubbish, and his unremarkable appearance, seen as a safeguard against any potential romantic entanglement with Princess. However, as time passes, the brothers discover Princess is pregnant, and suspicion descends upon Gypsy, a young supplier of illegal alcohol who has always harbored feelings for Princess.
Fuelled by rage, the brothers vow vengeance, but a defiant Princess intervenes, claiming that Edi is the father. The quiet, book-loving scrap-picker now finds himself caught in a dangerous web of deceit, his unassuming life turned upside down. Despite his lowly social status, it is Edi's inherent gentleness and self-awareness that become his shield in this gritty, unpredictable world.
