Plot

In the whirlwind comedy "Dumb Luck" (2003), Stephen Hitchcock, a divorced accountant, lives a routine life, sharing his world with his sharp-minded son, Kevin, and his meddlesome sister, Vivian. Desperate to bring some excitement into Stephen's life, Vivian arranges a blind date for him with her friend, Sandy. The stage for their meeting is set in a bustling shopping mall, a scene that's about to get a lot more interesting. In the same mall, a computer whiz named Norman Byers is on the run, having hacked into a system and discovered some incredibly valuable information. The digits he's unearthed carry a weighty importance and are sought after by more than a few interested parties. With time running out, Norman stashes the numbers in Stephen's shopping bag, instructing his associate, Kelly Jordan, to retrieve them. In a classic case of mistaken identity, Stephen, expecting a blind date, mistakes Kelly for Sandy, leading her to a quaint restaurant, completely oblivious to the chaos he's clutching in his bag. This humorous misadventure spirals into a tale of unexpected twists, as the unassuming Stephen becomes entangled in a web of intrigue, all thanks to a bit of dumb luck. The film is a riveting blend of comedy and suspense, where an ordinary day at the mall spirals into a thrilling chase for a bag full of trouble.
