Plot

In the sun-drenched sprawl of LA's San Fernando Valley, 16-year-old Tobe navigates life with her younger brother and their father. Their humdrum existence is disrupted when Tobe, captivated by the allure of a man out of place, invites Harlan, a gas station attendant with a cowboy's spirit, to join her and her friends at the beach. Harlan, a South Dakotan native and former ranch hand, dons his cowboy hat, speaks in a charming country drawl, and exudes an aura of simplicity that masquerades as wisdom. Despite the age gap more than twice her years, Tobe is drawn to Harlan's attentive and polite demeanor, finding herself wanting to spend more time with him. Her father's disapproval only fuels her rebellion, creating a rift in their already strained relationship. Harlan, on the other hand, is a man caught in a delusional whirlwind. He believes himself to be a cowboy, caught in the modern-day labyrinth of the San Fernando Valley. His connection with Tobe sparks an intense belief that she is his soulmate. He begins to devise plans to whisk her away from the shackles of her father's control, convinced their destinies are intertwined. As these worlds teeter on the brink of collision, the tension escalates. Will the cowboy's delusion shatter against the harsh reality of the Valley, or will the rebellious teen's defiance bring about an unexpected upheaval? In the sun-soaked streets of LA, a tale of delusion, rebellion, and misplaced love unfolds, promising to be as unpredictable as the characters themselves.
