Suffering from a burdensome personal trauma, Wilson Walmsley finds himself drawn into the tumultuous world of suburban public high school education. As a substitute teacher, he is met with a chaotic landscape of disinterested authority, teacher apathy, and rampant student indiscipline - a far cry from the order and respect he yearns for. In the midst of this educational battlefield, Walmsley forms a bond with Louise, a dedicated arts teacher, and Joey, a bright yet tormented student. When he valiantly intervenes in a shocking sexual assault against Louise by the unruly Davey, a legal nightmare ensues, further inflamed when Davey's girlfriend brutally attacks Louise. Pushed to the brink, Walmsley takes matters into his own hands. He cunningly ensnares Joey and six other troublemakers, whisking them away to a desolate property nestled in the rugged isolation of Alpine, Texas.
