In the chilling and darkly surreal movie "Decay" (2015), the life of Jonathan, a solitary middle-aged man who bears the heavy chains of obsessive-compulsive disorder, takes an unexpected turn. He lives a life of seclusion, his only companions being his empathetic neighbor and the security guard at the local theme park where he works as a groundskeeper. His solitary world is upturned when two teenage girls trespass into his home, seeking marijuana in his basement greenhouse. A sudden twist of fate strikes when Jonathan catches one of the girls, Katlyn, off guard, causing her to tumble from a ladder to her untimely death. Her companion, in a state of panic, assumes Jonathan is a murderer and flees, only to meet her own tragic end in a car accident. In the face of such horrifying events, Jonathan's already fragile psyche begins to crack. Rather than reporting the incident, Jonathan, a man haunted by a lifetime of OCD and paranoia inherited from his mother, makes a chilling choice. He keeps Katlyn's body preserved in a bathtub full of ice, the once vibrant teenager becoming a silent companion to his loneliness. He dines with her, bathes her, creating an eerie semblance of companionship that only serves to highlight his desperate solitude. However, as the days pass, the reality of death seeps into his make-believe world. Katlyn's body begins to decay, mirroring Jonathan's deteriorating mental state. As the police start closing in on the truth, Jonathan is forced to confront the reality of his decisions. "Decay" artistically explores the harrowing journey of a man teetering on the brink of sanity, delicately weaving together threads of tragedy, obsession, and fear in a tapestry of psychological suspense.
