Plot

In the heart of the bustling city, Joseph A. Doakes, an ordinary man, stumbles into an enchanting toy shop in search of the perfect gift for his 12-year-old son. The helpful store clerk introduces him to a fascinating box filled with magic tricks, a treasure-trove of illusion and wonder that immediately catches Doakes' eye. Entranced by the clever display put on by a skilled store employee, Doakes can't resist investing in not only the introductory set but also a larger, more complex kit of magic tricks. Bringing these newfound wonders home, Doakes eagerly attempts to unveil the mysteries of magic to his son, whose enthusiasm is considerably less than his own. Despite his meticulous following of the included instructions, the tricks, which seemed to thrive so effortlessly in the store, falter in Doakes' hands, much to his son's boredom and his own frustration. However, one trick unexpectedly achieves the desired effect, leaving Doakes pleasantly stunned and injecting a much-needed spark of excitement into his performance. The grand finale - a daring disappearance act - lands Doakes in an unimaginable predicament. His ultimate destination? A mystery only to be uncovered by those who venture to watch this enchanting short film, Dark Magic.
