Plot

In the heart of Detroit, Officer James Coffee (Ed Helms), a charming yet unsuspecting lawman, finds himself immersed in the warmth of a blossoming romance with Vanessa Manning (Taraji P. Henson). Yet, the sweetness of their liaison is soured by Vanessa's fiercely protective 12-year-old son, Kareem (Terrence Little Gardenhigh). Resolute in his mission to disentangle his mother's new relationship, Kareem concocts a daring plan - hiring hardened criminals to intimidate Officer Coffee into submission. However, Kareem's audacious scheme takes an unexpected turn, inadvertently unveiling a covert network of nefarious activities led by the city's most feared drug kingpin. Suddenly, the Manning family is thrust into the treacherous crosshairs of the city's criminal underbelly, transforming Kareem's simple scheme into an urgent fight for survival. With no other choice, Kareem grudgingly teams up with the very target of his animosity, Officer Coffee, in a high-stakes chase across the city's gritty landscape. Amidst a hailstorm of bullets and one four-letter insult at a time, an unlikely alliance is born, and a comedic symphony of chaos, action, and laughter unfolds. Directed by Michael Dowse, COFFEE and KAREEM is a rollercoaster of adrenaline and humor. It explores the unexpected bonds that form in life's most precarious situations, featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Betty Gilpin, RonReaco Lee, Andrew Bachelor, and David Alan Grier. This action-comedy is a wild ride that proves family, love, and trust can come from the most surprising of places.
