Christmas in Conway (2013)

In the heart of Conway, South Carolina, the townsfolk know Duncan Mayor as a curmudgeon, but his ailing wife, Suzy, sees him as her tender-hearted protector. Newly returned from the hospital, Suzy's care falls to Natalie, a dedicated nurse whom Duncan begrudgingly tolerates. As Christmas approaches, Duncan, driven by a desperate desire to gift Suzy a memorable Christmas present, conceives an audacious plan: a ride on a real Ferris wheel, reminiscent of their sweet past, assembled right in their backyard. Once upon a time, it was atop a Ferris wheel that Duncan had asked Suzy to be his wife. The quest to locate a 45-foot-high Ferris wheel leads Duncan to an abandoned carnival, overseen by the solitary ex-carnival worker, Henry. However, building this towering symbol of love is an undertaking too immense for one man. Enter Tommy, a successful landscape designer, who owes a debt of gratitude to Suzy for steering him away from a troubled past. As Duncan and Tommy labor to bring the Ferris wheel to life, the town is split between those touched by the romantic gesture and the local sticklers for zoning laws. Among the latter is the refined Gayle Matthews, who is adamant about winning the "Christmas Showcase" contest hosted by a prestigious magazine. The sight of the looming Ferris wheel next door threatens to upend her meticulous garden showcase. In this festive debacle, her brother, the town sheriff, is caught in a tricky situation. He finds himself walking a tightrope between enforcing local zoning laws and allowing a man's final romantic gesture for his dying wife. This delicate dance sets the stage for unexpected perils, stirring emotions, and a Christmas in Conway that no one will ever forget.
