Chikku Bukku (2010)

Plot

In the heart of London, a vivacious disc jockey named Arjun (Arya) and an ambitious MBA student, Anu (Shriya Saran), lead lives that are as bustling as the city itself. However, the hands of fate intertwine, drawing them back to their roots in India. Arjun is summoned to his ancestral village, Karaikudi, to halt the impending sale of his father's house. Simultaneously, Anu is pulled towards Madurai to be with her father who lies injured after an accident. Their paths cross unexpectedly on a train ride, marking the onset of a journey that meanders through their individual quests and a shared destiny. The crammed confines of the train gift Arjun a treasure - his father's diary, a window into the past. As the pages turn, the year is 1985, and the air is thick with romance and rebellion. Arjun's father, Sekar, returns to his village as a chosen Police officer, his heart aflame with love for Meena (Preetika). However, their romance faces the brick wall of societal class differences, leading a dejected Sekar to his police training and a fortuitous encounter with a young colleague, Ammaiappan (Anoop Kumar). Intricately woven into this past is a twist of fate - Sekar and Ammaiappan, enamored by the same woman, Meena. Back in the present, after overcoming hurdles and navigating their way to their respective homes, Arjun and Anu find themselves irrevocably drawn to each other, their hearts echoing with newfound love. The film then introduces a Deus Ex Machina, personified by Anu's father, Ammaiappan, tying up loose ends. Recognizing the love between Anu and the son of his old friend Sekar, he gives their relationship his blessing. The film leaves an open-ended hint, suggesting a shared future for Anu and Arjun, two individuals who started as strangers and found themselves united by love and a shared history.
