Capernaum (2018)

Zain is a boy growing up in the brutal slums of Beirut. He lives in a squalid home and takes care of his seven siblings while his impoverished parents struggle to eke out a living. Zain eventually flees his hopeless situation only to find himself living on the mean streets of the run-down sections of Beirut. He sells drugs but also attempts to save his 11-year-old sister from being sold as a wife. Zain ends up stabbing a person and is sent to prison as an adult. During his trial, he attempts to sue his parents for “being born.”
