Plot

In the sun-drenched streets of Sydney, an Australian poet finds himself ensnared by two intoxicating obsessions: a beguiling art student named Candy, and the mesmerizing allure of heroin. As he tumbles from a quick-witted wordsmith into a desperate addict, Candy herself transforms from a promising actress to a call girl, then a streetwalker, and finally a madwoman lost in the throes of addiction. Their love story, as vibrant and erratic as a painter's palette, is a chaotic dance between euphoria, self-destruction, and despair. Their shared bohemian lifestyle, with its intoxicating blend of art and hedonism, draws them closer together, even as their mutual addiction drives them further into the abyss. The couple's desperate attempts to find their footing lead them from Sydney to Melbourne, chasing the elusive promise of sobriety. But the siren call of heroin proves too overpowering, their attempts to go clean disintegrating like smoke in the wind. As the pair spiral deeper into addiction, the pursuit of their next fix becomes an all-consuming obsession, obliterating all other attachments and possessions. The harsh reality of their situation begins to overshadow their once vibrant love, their lives becoming a relentless quest for money and heroin. 'Candy' is a hauntingly beautiful, yet brutal exploration of love, addiction and the price of obsession, painting an unforgettable portrait of two souls lost in a self-created purgatory.
