Plot

Set against the colorful backdrop of a nostalgic 80's and 90's summer camp, Camp Manna unfolds the hilarious yet heartwarming tale of Ian Fletcher, the rebellious newcomer shaking the faith foundations of an Evangelical Christian camp. Following a dismal tragedy, 15-year-old Ian leaves the familiar shores of Florida to join his aunt and uncle in the distant north. His new life takes an unexpected twist when he finds himself at Camp Manna, an idiosyncratic Christian camp steeped in a bewildering religious subculture. The camp's quirky tradition, the God Games, a Biblical Olympiad designed to mold boys into 'faithful men,' leaves Ian, the skeptic, feeling like a fish out of water. He finds himself bunking with the Passover Privates, a ragtag group of underdogs, and their fervently uncool counselor, Bradley Sommers. However, the charismatic and seemingly cool Clayton Vance, counselor of the Righteous Regiment, casts a spell on Ian, prompting him to abandon Bradley and his band of outsiders. As the anticipation for the God Games builds, Ian begins to question Clayton's façade of coolness and his decision to defect from the Passover Privates. He wonders if his choice might turn out to be the biggest blunder of his life. Camp Manna is a harmonious blend of uproarious comedy and nostalgic affection, a 'satire with soul' that artfully demonstrates how laughter can be the best way to uncover the truth.
