Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001)

In 1764 France, the people of Gavaudan province are terrorized by a mysterious beast that is killing people by the dozen. The King of France sends a knight, Grégoire de Fronsac, to investigate and slay the creature. Fronsac is joined by Mani, his American Indian companion. But then the pair of hunters arrive, they find a situation that’s much stranger than they imagined. Locals say the beast is “mechanical” and controlled by “human masters.” Fronsac and Mani are soon enveloped into a dark, dangerous and mysterious world rife with political intrigue and a ravenous killer beast of unknown origin.
