Plot

In the pulsing heart of Manhattan, Frank, a beleaguered paramedic, navigates the graveyard shift in a two-man ambulance team. Once revered as Father Frank for his life-saving efforts, he is now haunted by the specters of those he couldn't save. Among them, a young woman whose life slipped away six months prior, a loss that weighs heavily on his burdened soul. Over 48 grueling hours, we shadow Frank through three nights, each marked by a different partner. Larry, whose thoughts revolve around his next meal; Marcus, whose faith in Jesus is his beacon in the darkness; and Tom, who resorts to physical violence when the monotony gnaws at him. Worn thin and teetering on the edge of sanity, Frank is a man desperate to escape the shackles of his profession. He concocts schemes to get fired, feigns illness, and deliberately delays calls that might introduce him to another life he couldn't save. Yet, he finds himself unable to sever the ties that bind him to his job. Amidst this spiral into despair, he crosses paths with Mary, an ex-junkie and the daughter of a heart patient he ushers to the brink of death. Mary, wrestling with her own demons, finds herself drawn to Frank, hoping against hope that her father will survive. Simultaneously repulsed and captivated by the chaos of his existence, Frank finds himself returning to Mary, seeking his own salvation in their shared struggle. 'Bringing Out the Dead' is a haunting exploration of a man grappling with the ghosts of his past, the harsh realities of his present, and the uncertainty of his future — a man in dire need of a rebirth.
