In the bustling heart of Toronto thrives Rajvinder Singh, a fervent hockey enthusiast since his tender age of twelve. To chase his dreams of professional hockey, Rajvinder makes a bold move, choosing to trim his hair, abandon his Pagri—his turban, and even forego his education. This boldness ignites the ire of his father, Darvesh, a firm believer in Sikh principles and values, who envisioned his son as a part of the family business.
Rajvinder's aspirations of being a respected hockey player are quickly dashed as he and his fellow Sikh players are mocked and derided, labeled as 'jokers' by the mainstream Caucasian players. His friends, too, jest at his dreams, urging him to pursue traditional games like 'Guli Danda' and 'Kabaddi.' Meanwhile, Darvesh enforces his son to work as a truck driver for Uncle Sammy, adding to Rajvinder's challenges.
However, amidst these tribulations, Rajvinder finds solace in the captivating law student, Melissa Winters, and her brother, Dan, who offers to coach Rajvinder and his team. Frustrated by their exclusion from other teams, they form their own, christening it 'Speedy Singhs'. With a coach struggling to pronounce their names and under the assumption that they are a family due to their shared surname, 'Singh', the team embarks on a journey to make a name for themselves.
Rajvinder's team, the 'Speedy Singhs', face an uphill battle, daring to challenge the reigning champions, the 'Hammerheads'. Simultaneously, Rajvinder has to mentor his younger brother, Gurveer, who is being bullied for his unique appearance, and navigate the complexities of his family dynamics, particularly when Darvesh declares that his son has given up on hockey forever. Thus unfolds the story of Rajvinder's pursuit: a path filled with unease, laughter, courage, and an unwavering spirit of determination.
